Application to the Microbiology
Graduate Program At ISU

Admission to both Microbiology and to ISU is required. You should submit an application to the Microbiology program to be considered for admission to Microbiology, and you must submit the Graduate College Application to be formally admitted to the University. You may wish to use this page as a checklist if you are applying to the ISU Interdepartmental Microbiology Program. Although applications can be submitted at any time, applications should be completed by January 1 for full consideration for fellowships and assistantships.

You may apply to the Microbiology Graduate Program by preparing the application information and attaching to an E-mail sent to microbiology@iastate.edu or by printing and sending it as a hard copy to:

1) Three letters of reference.

2) Copies of GRE results (GRE general test is required of all applicants).

3) Copies of TOEFL results (required for those whose native language is not English).

Application to the Graduate College at ISU:
Admission to the Graduate College can be sought through the self managed graduate application. You can apply to the Iowa State University Graduate College either on line or with a printed submission at the Iowa State Univeristy Admissions web page.

It will not be possible to be admitted to the Graduate Interdepartmental Microbiology Program with out providing the following items to Iowa State University.

1) A completed Graduate College Application via the Admissions web site. You need to enter "Microbiology" for major. If you specify a department or departments, your application will be considered specifically by the department(s) indicated, as well as by Microbiology.

2) The Application Fee is a part of the admission submission and must be a part of your application.

3) Transcripts of your Grades and Credits. Request the Registrar of each college or university you have attended to send an official transcript of your academic record. You may use Form 1-A to request transcripts from the school at which you received or will receive your undergraduate and/or Master's degree(s).

4) Official TOEFL Results. Only for those whose native language is not English and who have not earned their degree in a country where English is the only official language.
