Application for the Paul and Marge Hartman Freshman Scholarship
Interdepartmental Microbiology (IM) Program, Iowa State
University
Requirements: The applicant must have completed an application to ISU as an entering freshman with a Microbiology Major.
Selection Criteria: All entering freshman in Microbiology at ISU will be considered. Preference will be given to applicants to the ISU Microbiology Program who rank in the top 10% on their ACT score, on their SAT score, or in their High School Class academic standing.
Selection Process: The Program Supervisory Committee will review the applications. The Committee will, after evaluation of the application material (and at the Committee's discretion, conduct interviews with the applicant and/or the applicant's guidance counselor) make its final recommendation(s).
Award: The winner(s) will be given the award during the first award semester. The scholarship ($500) is to be used for tuition and class expenses, such as laboratory fees, textbooks, etc.
Application: All scholarship applications are due February 29, 2008. You may type your information in a word processing program to take advantage of tools such as spell check. Please use a 12 pt type face on two pages at most with your name on each page. All items listed below are required. Mail or deliver to the Interdepartmental Microbiology Program, 207 Science I, Iowa State University, 50011-3211.
You may also submit your application as an attachment to an E-mail where the subject line of the E-mail should show the scholarship name and the text should include your name, address, and phone number. Send the E-mail plus attached scholarship application to the microbiology advisor (microundergrad@iastate.edu).
